Denver's Best Cigar Bars

While cigarette smoking has been banned inside Denver establishments since 2006, there is an abundance of cigar lounges around the city. Seen as something more sophisticated, smoking cigars is a popular pastime and even a hobby for some. Of course, cigars are also synonymous with spirits such as whiskey, scotch and even tequila. Here are places in Denver where you can puff along with your drink.

Capitol Cigars 
With over 600 different labels to choose from Capitol Cigars is one of the largest cigar lounges in the city. There is a comfortable smoking lounge with free wifi and full bar. The lounge also specializes in Scotch and cigar pairings. Patrons are also welcome to bring in their own cigars, however, those who do must purchase a drink from the bar before indulging. Casa de Palma
Palma Cigars has been around for over 25 years and is the only cigar manufacturer in the state of Colorado. The Palma features its own line of Dominican Republic hand-rolled cigars by Master Cigar Roller Clay Carlton. There is also a full bar and lounge for enjoying. The bar also features a selection of Colorado’s best wines from 90 state vintners. (2207 Larimer St.; 303-297-3244)

Churchill Bar at The Brown Palace
This sophisticated lounge is located inside the historic Brown Palace Hotel. Enjoy a selection of over 60 cigars in the lounge’s customized humidor. The lounge also serves a fine selection of single malt scotches along with lunch, dinner, and delicious desserts. (321 17th St.; 303-297-3111)

Cigars on 6th
This old school cigar shop and lounge on 6th Avenue has been supplying cigars for over 16 years. While it doesn’t have a bar it does feature a full service barber shop in the back, Clips on Sixth. Tony, the barber, has been cutting and shaving for over two decades. Enjoy a smoke and get a shave in this historic cigar lounge. (707 E. 6th Ave.; 303-830-8100)

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House
Down in the Tech Center, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle has a relaxing cigar lounge that features private lockers for guests to house their prized collections. Broncos owner Pat Bowlen has a cigar locker here. If you don’t have your own, you can peruse the lounge’s fine selection. The restaurant often hosts cigar and spirit pairing dinners and features a full bar with a special selection of bourbons, single malt scotches and cognac. Devon’s Pub
Half sports bar, half cigar lounge, Devon’s is where you can enjoy a stoogie while watching your favorite team or playing some pool. The bar offers top shelf scotch and selection of fine wines. There is also a patio and happy hour is from 3-6 PM daily. (4992 E. Hampden Ave.; 303-756-5507)

The Robusto Room  
Located near Park Meadows mall, this cocktail lounge and cigar shop also features DJs, karaoke and trivia, but in a more refined atmosphere. Enjoy a handcrafted cocktail while puffing your favorite cigar. Private cigar lockers are also available. Guests can also purchase private Scotch and cigar tastings with owner Peter Roth.
